چکیده

Methods and Results—We examined parenchymal rejection after major histocompatibility complex class II allomismatched cardiac transplantation (bm12 donor heart and B6 recipients) in wild-type (WT) and MRP-14 / recipients. Allograft survival averaged 5.9 2.9 weeks (n 10) in MRP-14 / recipients compared with 12 weeks (n 15; P 0.0001) in WT recipients. Two weeks after transplantation, allografts in MRP-14 / recipients had significantly higher parenchymal rejection scores

Loss of myeloid related protein-8/14 exacerbates cardiac allograft rejection.

BACKGROUND The calcium-binding proteins myeloid-related protein (MRP)-8 (S100A8) and MRP-14 (S100A9) form MRP-8/14 heterodimers (S100A8/A9, calprotectin) that regulate myeloid cell function and inflammatory responses and serve as early serum markers for monitoring acute allograft rejection. Despite functioning as a proinflammatory mediator, the pathophysiological role of MRP-8/14 complexes in c...

THE ROLE OF T-L YMPHOCYTE SUBPOPULATION IN RENAL ALLOGRAFT REJECTION

Twenty-two recipients of HLA-nonidentical living related and nonrelated renal allografts were studied for alterations in the relative percentage of OKT4-positive peripheral blood T-cells after transplantation. Characteristic shifts in the ratio of T-helper to T -suppressor/cytotoxic cells (TH/TS-C), but not absolute cell numbers, were demonstrated to correspond with the status of the allog...

Macrophage accumulation associated with rat cardiac allograft rejection detected by magnetic resonance imaging with ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide particles.

BACKGROUND Acute cardiac allograft rejection continues to be the cause of graft loss and contributes to the morbidity and mortality after cardiac transplantation. In this study, we report a new method for detecting organ rejection in transplantation with an MR-based technique using dextran-coated ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide (USPIO) particles. These particles ( approximately 27 nm in...

Intragraft Toll-like receptor profiling in acute renal allograft rejection.

BACKGROUND Experimental studies have shown potential for Toll-like receptor (TLR) profiling in renal allograft in predicting renal outcome after transplantation. Our goal was to determine if profiling of TLR1-10 and TLR-related genes could be used as a prognostic value for renal function and late clinical outcome after transplantation. METHODS TLR1-10, CD14, MD-2 and negative regulators Toll-...

Noninvasive evaluation of cardiac allograft rejection by cellular and functional cardiac magnetic resonance.

OBJECTIVES We sought to use cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) to establish sensitive and reliable indexes for noninvasive detection of acute cardiac allograft rejection. BACKGROUND Appropriate surveillance for acute allograft rejection is vitally important for graft survival. The current gold standard for diagnosing and staging rejection after organ transplantation is endomyocardial biopsy, wh...
